Many college students have low incomes and unmet need even after financial aid, which leads to hunger and financial stress. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is our nation's most important anti-hunger program. Access to SNAP is essential for low-income college students because it decreases food insecurity and increases financial stability, creating the conditions for college success.

Students are subject to additional eligibility rules under SNAP; there is a lot of confusion about these rules, and many people incorrectly believe that students are never eligible for SNAP. As a result, only a small fraction of college students who are eligible for SNAP receive it. Join us as the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) discusses SNAP eligibility for college students.
