In order to prepare students and parents to complete the FAFSA form, it is critical to understand the barriers that exist, the support needed, and the resources available to navigate the financial aid process. This webinar will provide guidance on how to support students and parents in all familial and financial circumstances, including special circumstances, such as students in foster care, those experiencing homelessness, dependent student who don’t reside with their legal parents, etc. Through a review of federal updates, frequently asked questions, and FSA resources participants will receive valuable information and tools to prepare for the 2020-2021 FAFSA form.

Presenter:

Claire Bucknor is an Awareness and Outreach Specialist in the Office of Federal Student Aid at the U.S. Department of Education. She develops and implements strategies to increase awareness of federal student aid programs and FAFSA® form completion. She also served the Department as a Management and Program Analyst in the Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development and the National Center for Education Statistics. Claire graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and received a Master’s degree in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
