Strengthening the Pipeline Through Community Partnerships: Engaging Urban Schools & Communities

September 19, 2018
2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

The University of Michigan (UM) has developed a new initiative aimed at increasing access and success for low-income students in urban communities. The Engaging Urban Schools and Communities Initiative recognizes that academic, financial, and socio-emotional support are all critical for the retention and persistence of low-income students, especially at four-year public institutions. In this pilot program, UM seeks to build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders locally and nationally within the college access community. UM will also highlight the ways low-income students are already supported by university through transition-to-college programming, one-on-one mentoring, and summer bridge programs.
