Sara Melnick, Deputy Director

NCAN will host a great lineup of speakers at its September 2014 national conference, New Heights for College Access and Success. In addition to the 70+ conference workshop sessions, the following plenary speakers will appear:

The Honorable Greg Stanton, Mayor of the City of Phoenix, and Paul Luna, President and CEO of the Helios Education Foundation, will welcome attendees on Monday, September 15 to the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona.

Brandon Busteed, Executive Director of Gallup Education, will speak about Building the U.S. Educonomy, measuring the educational outcomes that matter most, connecting education to jobs and job creation, and promoting a paradigm shift from knowledge mastery to emotional engagement in education. Mr. Busteed believes that, as a nation, there is nothing more important we can do than build the world’s most effective “educonomy” by seamlessly integrating our educational system, our employers, and our job creators.

NCAN's own Kim Cook will lead a discussion on Increasing Success for Post-Traditional, 21st Century Students with two of Arizona's higher education leaders about what's working at the state's two-year and four-year institutions, Dr. Maria Harper-Marinick (Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Maricopa County Community College District) and Ms. Karen Francis-Begay (Assistant Vice President for Tribal Relations, University of Arizona.)

We hope you’ll join us September 15-17 in Phoenix as we “Reach Higher” for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students! Visit www.collegeaccess.org/2014NationalConference for more information. Early registration discounts end August 15.
